Usually, the Triple marker test is carried out during 15th and 20th week of pregnancy. It has been reported that the Triple est carried out during 16th-18th week gives more accurate results. The likelihood of having multiple children in a pregnant woman can be identified by this test.
Abnormalities in fetus
Pregnant women with family history of chromosomal abnormalities are prone to carry child with genetic abnormalities. Factors such as, late pregnancy, exposure to harmful medications and radiations also influence the chances of getting fetus abnormalities.
Three significant markers are detected by this test. These markers are given below:
- Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP)
