CT Scan Procedure
CT Scanners resemble the shape of doughnuts. Patient is made to lie on the table that slowly sides into tunnel-like device which is the CT Scanner. The opening of CT Scanner is 24-28 inches in diameter. Inside the device, there is a curved detector located on one side and on the other side, there is a rotating frame to which X-ray tube is attached. Rotating frame spins the detector and X-ray tube around the patient and this action leads to creation of fan beam of X-ray. With one full rotation of detector and X-ray tube, numerous snapshots of X-ray beam are captured and about 1000 profiles are sampled. Detectors then spatially subdivide each of the profile and feed them into several individual channels. Two- dimensional pictures are obtained with the help of computer. In the procedure of CT Scan, multiple computers are used for image processing and viewing purposes.

Sometimes, oral contrasts are required to get clear images. It is recommended that one drinks high amount of water after this procedure in order to eliminate toxins from the body. Types of CT Scan
