An ultrasound scan is also termed as "Sonography" or USG. It is an imaging technique used to visualize muscles, tendons, internal organs, etc. These images capture size, structures and pathological lesions of an organism.
Ultrasound is a safe, painless scanning process. It does not include any ionizing radiations. It uses high frequency sound waves that are transmitted into a person's body and then these waves are collected back to create an image. These images are then studied for various purposes.
